Steel Casting is a specialized process with various types of steel and alloys. Steel castings are often used when Iron castings do not offer enough strength or shock resistance. Three common types of Steel used for casting: Carbon, Stainless and High Alloy. There are many different Steel Alloys. Two common types: Heat resistant, Corrosion resistant.

Common Carbon Steel:

  • Specification: ASTM A27
  • Grades: 1020, 1025, 1030, 1040

Common Stainless Steel:

  • Specification: ASTM A743
  • Grades: 302, 303, 304, 316

High Alloy Steel:

  • Specification: ASTM A743
  • Grades: 410, 416, 420

Special Alloy Steel: Nickel & Copper based:

  • Specification: ASTM A494
  • Hastelloy, Inconel, Monel
